Fire Safety Vegetation Management
As always, we continue to engage with the city to ensure the most effective fuel reduction by their crews. At the same time, our ecopullers work is focused on complementary goals of fire safety and native plant preservation. Ecopullers have worked throughout the 34 acres of Shepherd Canyon Park to improve fire safety in our neighborhood.
The name ecopullers came to be, because of the focus on pulling out fire hazard plants by the roots to have long term impact, rather than just one time chopping to deal with the immediate problem. Ecopullers have worked throughout the 34 acres of Shepherd Canyon Park to improve fire safety in our neighborhood. Some have described shepherd canyon as a 34-acre bowl of city kindling surrounded by a rim of homes. The upper meadow tucked above the soccer field is one area that has literally been transformed over the years by our work with neighbors, other volunteers, and the fire department. Ecopullers work in other areas of city land as well, including along the old Sacramento Northern Railroad Trail Path. Full narrative >>
